Long-distance move from Batesville, AR to Des Moines, IA

Interstate moving

I moved from Arkansas to Iowa last July using Daryl flood which my new employer arranged as an all inclusive moving including packing and unpacking and assembly. The timeline for packing, loading and delivery was fragmented with multiple missing and broken goods. Only part of the goods had inventory and the rest were not included. Some compensation was given for missing goods but 82 inch smart TV which was broken was not repaired or compensated. Not able to contact after multiple attempts.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $17000

Long-distance move from Texas to Illinois

Daryl Flooding is the best!

I can't say enough great things about Daryl Flood and Mayflower.  We recently moved from Houston to Chicago and I intereviewed almost 5 moving companies (all the big ones), including Mayflower/DarylFlood. (I was very nervous about this move being cross country and losing things, etc.)  All I can say is that I am so glad I went with Daryl Flood.  They gave a very fair estimate -- about mid-range to lower than most of the others..and they were fantastic from start to finish.  They (Scott) offered a very thorough and professional site visit to put together a quote for us in the beginning.  And he answered all my questions and helped me through the decision process very well. After that, I was assigned a moving coordinator (Kristy) who took great care of us the rest of the way through.

She was so on top of everything -- always available, informative, helpful, and she jumped through hoops to keep us aware and up to date on the process and next steps.  Always one step a head of us!  I always felt taken care of. Very professional and nice to work with. It was a quick move.  From Houston to Chicago, it only took 3-4 days.  We were shocked at how fast!  No waiting time.  The packing team was great.  Very thorough and out of almost 200 boxes, not one thing was scratched or broken. They did a great job.   And the movers themselves were fantastic -- both loading in Houston and unloading in Chicago.  Nice guys, very professional, on time and thorough. And very fast and efficient as well. They moved each box as if it was their own and treated each thing with the ultimate care.  I highly recommend Daryl flood!!  .

Negative if I could!

If I could give a negative I would. They were contracted by Home Depot to deliver a refrigerator. They removed my old refrigerator between my parked vehicles and scratched my 2021 GMC pickup truck. Barry McDonley, a rep of Daryl Flood, very rudely in handling the situation, wanted me to sign a release form for $150 even though the estimate of repair is at $1600. Be aware if you don't have cameras they will do anything to you and your property, childishly belittle you, and and refuse to do what

Long-distance move from Texas to Oregon

Overall Experience - Very Unsatisfied.

Very poor communciation and consulting after being surprsied on delivery date. I paid alot of money for things to go wrong and I couldn't do anything but wait longer as they tried to find a driver. I got a refund of 100 dollars a day, a measly refund looking at my total 12000 move cost.At the beginning and as I was looking into Moving companies, I found several companies to a little risky, wither not bonded or insured or so cheap I wasn't sure how they could possibly provide a quality service. Being that our jobs were relocating us and gave us a healthy budget, we decided to go with a national provider like: United, Mayflower or any other van lines. In my experience with getting information and scheduling the home appointments, I found Mayflower stood out on the customer service and sales side. Everyone was very helpful and answered all of my difficult questions. This is what made me choose Mayflower as my moving provider. In addition, the sales representative Chris Gregersen was helpful in coming us with ideas that would fit my budget (allowance) while getting desired third party services (like TV mounting and fridge and w/d hook up). I was happy about the move. We had some unforseen changes with our address in Roseburg and had to change the house address to Mayflower three times. It was always going to be in Roseburg, but nonetheless, it was uncontrollable as sellers had issues with selling thier homes. This led to me have to re-sign several agreements over and over, which I was under the impression the sales person had recorded on there the appropriate dates. (Later to find out, the dates on the paperwork were incorrect and really put a huge dent in the process; even after telling my rep by email and in person the dates I wanted our belongings to be shipped.) We were notified by Mayflower our shipment would be shipped out on the 28th of June (which was the day we were coming back to the US). This was communicated at least a month in advance by phone, in person and in email. When I understood that Mayflower was requesting the driver to be arranged that late, I was very unsatitsfied, especially after communicating by email for over a month while I was on vacation. The very reason I chose Mayflower was that I thought they'd take care of everything without me having to hassle/worry.  The other issue was not only the shipment date was inappropriate for what we discussed, the actual window was very far out. We arrived to Roseburg, OR on June 28th. We didn't hear from Mayflower if the shipment had gone out or been assigned to a driver. After we asked, we were informed that a they are trying to find a driver and there was a mistake. As you can imagine, without Fridge, Washer and Dryer and other major appliances in tow, we were not able to really LIVE in our house, Not too mention, we had all of our clothes etc with Mayflower. We were left with only the 2 suitcases we packed for Turkey- that we had been using for over a month at this point. We desperately needed a place that had a W/D and furniture so we ended up asking our employer to help us as Roseburg is a small town and the hotels are very poor quality. They found us a place luckily as they are attached to the returement home. We had to stay there for 15 days before our stuff arrived! It took a week and a half for Mayflower to assign a driver (keep in mind we reservied with them beginning of May).  I was mostly very dissasified with the shipment coordination - the date it was shipped after numerous conversations, the lack of consulting (for example: if our sales person would have said something about the shipment date getting moved back for some reason, change of address, etc; I would have been less surprised), the lack of oversight our sales person gave us (he should have looked at the multiple emails and should have owned the process; not later say O your paperwork has this date), the LONG shipment window (makes it very hard and unpredictable for temporary housing accomodations and very frustrating for customers.  The truck arrived and I met the driver. He was very professional and his loader, Michael Rochea of a local moving company here in Roseburg worked great as a team. They were very careful with my belongings and were quick and detailed on calling out every item. We had ALL of it!! I was very happy about that! Overall, Mayflower is a large company that has multiple people working for it. There are people that have been helpful throughout the process and people who were not. The National Customer Service line and local Daryl Flood Customer Service goes above and beyond and I really liked thier snap and responsiveness. Even if they didn't have an update, I felt like they cared and were working. The sales department I felt that as soon as they got my order, it was not followed up on and the ball was dropped on the coordination side. The lack of communication between sales and the coordinator can improve and could have really helped in my situation. One of the most important things a moving company (or any company for that matter) should have is making sure they are explained things as they happen, understandi what there customer wants and make sure they are proactive in making sure thier customer actually gets what they want.  Debbie Davis, the moving coordinator, I feel did all she could to make sure the process went smooth. Chris Gregersen was great in selling and consulting on the budget but then fell short with the timeline and explanation of why things got so messed up. I spoke with Debbie's boss and he was also very helpful and provided me updates and helped me get my refund for the shipment being late. I felt taken care of by management. The unfortunate thing is that because one breakdown the whole experience has left me with heartburn. I cannot recommend Mayflower to my friends/ family with this memory of my experience. Thanks to you all who were supportive and I hope management reads this and seeks out an action plan to further mitigate this problem. It is an easy fix and can ensure Mayflower continues to be a market leader.

Official company response

Dear Jenny,
On behalf of Chris Gregersen, Debbie Davis and the entire Daryl Flood team, we apologize that our service did not meet your expectations. Certainly, we agree that due to unforeseen circumstances such as home sales, set plans must be changed. We strive to offer flexibility in move dates to our customers, but during the busy summer season, we are constrained by capacity issues. This holds true in your case, where we could not allocate a driver and equipment to meet the desired schedule and delivery window. This is why we set such long delivery windows. Furthermore, it’s important that we as the provider and you as our customer thoroughly read and comprehend what is being presented in our service contracts. Although, said changes may have been discussed in passing, we can never assume that said changes have been documented. We understand that the lack of communication upfront added frustration to an already stressful situation. We’re glad to hear that a resolution has been made with our management team. We will work continue to work together to ensure that communication remains a top priority!

Long-distance move from Texas to Utah

Wow!

We used Daryl Flood to move furniture (including some very heavy pieces), boxes and household items to a second home in Utah. Some close friends highly recommended them as they had used them for a recent move from California with great service. I am so happy that we called them. Even though it was a very busy time of year and I know that our move was not their biggest concern, you would have never known it! Josh and Jeanna were so attentive, addressing all our concerns and bending over backwards to make our move as stress-free as possible. The packing crew was awesome as was the crew on the other end in Utah. Communication was great, from Josh to me and with Mesa Moving and Storage in Utah. They knew my concerns (because of Josh) and treated my new home like it was there own. Wonderful moving experience! Thank you Daryl Flood!

My Daryl Flood move was Fantastic.

I don't usually post reviews online but I was so impressed with the service I got from Daryl Flood moving that I wanted to give them some visible thanks. I've moved many times and this was by far the easiest, least complicated and most enjoyable move to date. I wish I had known of them before, but if I ever move again I will absolutely be calling them. Highly recommended. The moving coordinator was professional and kept me up to date throughout the entire process. The movers were friendly  and efficient. All my stuff got packed and delivered on time with no damage. And there were no price surprises as I have often had before. Great job!

Long-distance move from Connecticut to Texas

Excellent guide and performance.

I just want to share my experience about recent moving. It was my first moving since I have come in USA. I was afraid about a moving because many friends complained a lot about their bad experiences with moving company. But, after contacting with a move coordinator, Jeana potter (TX, Dallas), I felt better definitely because she really made me comfortable and she is so nice and friendly. Honestly, I felt like my friend would be working for my moving. In addition to her nice export, the staffs for packing and loading were all doing wonderful job. Also,  Kristy was great at taking care of moving schedule and moving stuffs by email and by phone call. I thought they were all really good team well trained. Now I would like to recommend Daryl Flood moving company strongly to my other friends. .

Recent move within Texas.

After my recent experience, I would not recommend anyone to use Mayflower Daryl Flood for their move. It was poorly managed from the start, with them committing to 2 days from pickup/load to delivery/unload for a move of roughly 150 miles, only to find out that they could not meet their commitment and it actually took 3 days. Then their team at the pickup/load out had problems working together & getting along among themselves, with required my family & I having to do much of the supervision and actual work. Then at the delivery/unloading, they were poorly prepared without the necessary equipment arranged at the outset, resulting in delays in starting their work. I've moved 5-6 times over my career, and without a doubt this was the worst moving experience I've ever had. .

Official company response

Dear Ginga,
We apologize that our services did not meet your initial expectation. After speaking with you privately, we understand the reasons why you are were not satisfied with the outcome of your move. The consultant’s over sights in estimating and coordinating your shipment was surely frustrating. Also, we know that the attitude of two individuals can bring the whole team down. We have addressed these issues with the team members involved. In all, we take your feedback to heart and will point out these faults when training future employees.
